Southern Trust National League champion, Central’s coach Paul Marshall resigns
In a Media statement dated late yesterday, issued under the name of the Chairman of the Central United FC (Inc), Ivan Vuksich states: “It is with regeret that the club announces the resignation of successful coach Paul Marshall and his assiatant David White, due to the pressure of business and wortk commitments. 2001 has been the most successful season in the club’s history as it came within one kick of winning the Double, unluckily losing the Chatham Cup Final in a shootout. Coaches Marshall and White, will, however, not be lost to the club as both intend turning out for the Over-30s and White will continue tio provide goalkeeping coaching, whilst Marshall will join the management committee at the club. The club has pleasure in announcing its new coaching staff for 2002 continuing the policy of promoting from within. The new coach is 33 year old, Michael Ridenton,. who played 40 times for the All-Whites as well as 3 years as a professional with Rotherham United in England. The assistant coach is former Napier City-Rovers player, 30-year old Jason New, who has been part of the Kiwitea Street setup for the last 3 years. Jason olayed over 300 first team games for Napier, and 12 for the All-Whites. Whilst the duo is inexperienced at coaching at this level, Vuksich believes that the structure and support network at Kiwitea Street will more than cover for the lack of coaching experience. The club is looking forward to another successful season in 2002.”
