End of Season update

End of Season update

Following the government’s extension of the current COVID-19 Alert Level 2.5 until at least Thursday 24 September, Northern Region Football have confirmed the remainder of the 2020 winter football season has been cancelled.

For juniors, we are exploring options for a game-day, either internally or externally, in October and will provide an update next week if we are able to put something on for members to end the season on a high. Unfortunately our team photos evening and end of season prize-giving is not able to proceed at this time due to the restrictions. Both events we will look to reschedule if possible to October. Team trainings will wrap up this week.

For those wanting school holiday football, Auckland City FC will be running programs in both weeks of the holidays (futsal and football). You can see what is on offer here:

We thank you for your support, effort and endeavours during this truncated season. Stay safe, stay healthy and we will be in touch again soon.

Return to Training Update

Return to Training Update

As we move down to Alert Level 2 next week the club will begin a staged restart of our football activities over the coming weeks. We look forward to getting back on the grass, but we also must take caution as a club to ensure a safe return for everyone.

At this time as per Government advice, the Alert Level 2 status – including the current maximum of 10 people per gathering – will apply until at least Sunday 6 September unless revised by Government prior to this. As a result, and as things currently stand, NRF competition play for junior, youth, and seniors, as well as our in-house football for U5-U8 will not resume until at the earliest Saturday 12 September.

The club is working with team coaches to determine when they can safely resume with their team training, and teams will be contacted individually. Please have patience during the restart phase.

We ask that all parents/guardians and players please read the player guidelines before returning to club football. This covers what to do before, during and after training, as well as details on contact tracing. It can be found on our website here: https://www.centralunitedfc.co.nz/covid-19/

Football postponed in Auckland

Football postponed in Auckland

Based on the information provided by the Prime Minister and Dr Ashley Bloomfield that the number of cases in Auckland has increased, NRF have taken the proactive decision to postpone all Football and Futsal, including First Kicks, Fun Football and all inhouse activities, in the Auckland region until further notice.

The decision for the Auckland Region has been made now to provide clarity for our members as early as possible ahead of this weekend and ease any possible burden which would be placed at short notice on club volunteers regarding compliance in managing gathering sizes allowable under lower Alert Level requirements should they occur.

At this time the health and well-being of the wider community is paramount, and we must play our part to minimise exposure to Covid-19.

We will continue to monitor developments and will provide a further update in line with Government Alert Level updates.

All matches in the LOTTO NRFL are also postponed until further notice.

Stay safe and stay connected.
