Keep learning in lockdown!
The football season may be on hold for the time being but coaches, referees and anyone else keen to learn more about the beautiful game can still continue their personal development.
New Zealand Football is offering online webinars in three key areas – Fit4Football, coaching and refereeing – and registrations are now open so don’t miss out on your opportunity to upskill!
The webinars are free and open to all with no pre-qualifications required for anyone wanting to take part. Topics covered in the coaching webinars will include meeting the needs of community players, creating positive learning environments, and effective communication and teaching methods while the Fit4Football webinars will focus on player welfare, the female athlete, nutrition, concussion, the 11+ and 11+ kids.
The refereeing webinars are meanwhile targeted at both experienced referees and anyone interested in learning more about the Laws of the Game. The focus of the initial webinars will be on all the latest updates to the laws.
Make sure you’re staying connected to football and are sharpening your knowledge so you’re ready to go when the season kicks off!

New Zealand Football and the seven Federations have announced that the community football postponement has been extended until at least Queen’s Birthday Weekend (Saturday 30 May 2020), due to the COVID-19 pandemic. You can see the full release on their website at https://www.nzfootball.co.nz/newsarticle/89084
Auckland Football Federation is drafting various scenarios of what the football season looks like for when are able to resume. The club is in constant communication with Auckl and Football to stay updated and we continue to plan in the background how we will get our members on the grass when the time is right. Each age group (junior, youth, senior) was at various stages of pre-season (trainings, trials, or yet to start) before the lockdown begun, and we will look to pick-up where we left off once we can, where possible.
We will continue to provide updates when they are available.
There are a number of great initiatives coming from NZ Football and Auckland Football to keep engaged during the lockdown, see the below links and keep an eye on our club Facebook page:

Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the Covid-19 outbreak, NZ Football and the 7 Member Federations have agreed to postpone all community football until May 2nd 2020.
Therefore the Auckland & Northern Football Federations, advise that effective immediately all community football/futsal activity has been postponed until 2nd May 2020, with all training suspended until 18th April 2020.
This postponement includes all football & futsal pre-season programmes, tournaments, workshops and other community competitions, including NRFL and social leagues that are currently in progress. Those involved with Football & Futsal including referees, players, officials, and committees are being encouraged to conduct any essential meetings online whenever possible.
NFF CEO John Limna said that “In postponing activities the Federations recognise the uncertainty in the community regarding Covid-19 and are putting the health and wellbeing of participants above all other considerations”
AFF CEO Steven Upfold said “The Auckland & Northern Football Federations would continue to monitor the developing situation, alongside NZ Football. Contingency plans for Club Competitions were being developed for further discussion with clubs in due course”.
About the Auckland & Northern Football Federations
The Federations are two of the seven District Federations affiliated to New Zealand Football focussed on creating the best opportunities for football to thrive in the communities of the Far North, Northland, West Auckland, North Harbour, Central Auckland & Manukau. In 2019 the two Federations established an Unincorporated Joint Venture in order to align the resources and support for the game across their combined region. Together with our member Clubs we provide competitions and football/futsal opportunities to over 35,000 registered players and 250 registered referees from grassroots football through to the Northern Regional Premier League.
