Central played tournament host’s Cambridge United in the quarter final’s winning narrowly on penalties against a reasonable Cambridge side, Daniel Koprivcic and Herman Costabel scoring in a 2 – 2 draw before entering the decisive penalty shoot out stage.
In the semi final Central played some of their best football of the tournament to defeat Fencibles 2 – 0, Koprivcic and Costabel again providing the goals.
The final proved to be too much for the younger, less experienced Central side against perennial winners Melville United who ran out deserved winners 3 – 0.
Overall, the six games played over two weekends, was a great opportunity for coaches Miso Major and Denis Vitner to have a good look at some of the youngsters and newcomer’s at the club

Cambridge Tournament

Central’s Premier League coaches Miso Major and Denis Vitner took a young side down to the annual Cambridge Tournament hoping to get a good look at the promising youngsters under their guidance.
After a slow start that saw them draw 1 – 1 with a pretty ordinary Hamilton Wanderers team they hit five to win 5 – 1 against Melville United’s 3rd string side, which to their credit always tried to play constructive football.
In the final game of the day Centrals youngsters were too good for Waikato Unicol, running out 3 – 0 winners.
They return to Cambridge on Saturday 9th March to play the tournament hosts, Cambridge United, in the quarter finals.
In patches, this young side are starting to play some very attractive football, complimented by top finishes from Daniel Koprivcic (2), Michael Quirke(2), Paul Vodanovich and newcomers Anthony Nemeth, Herman Costabel(2) and Jafar Alsari.
